Carina Fourie: A Professional Executive and Team Coach
I am an experienced executive coach, with more than 30 years of experience in corporate financial services as a process analyst as well as business architect. I, therefore, understand the dynamics and design of organisational systems.
After being exposed to coaching I realised that helping people become more aware and reaching their potential really gave me a sense of fulfilment. My clients are global and I have done online coaching with clients in Italy, UK and Lebanon. I did a certificate and Masters degree in Coaching and have been coaching since 2013, loving every minute of it. As a coach I have worked in various domains including financial services, IT, Tersiary institutions, medical, manufacturing, entrepreneurs and private individuals.
My experience as a business architect and process analyst have provided me with a deep understanding of organisational design. I hold a BSc (Information Systems) and two Masters degrees: MPhil in Information & Knowledge Management from the University of Stellenbosch and MPhil in Management Coaching from the University of Stellenbosch Business School.
My team coaching focus is on building psychological safety and trust in teams. I follow a systemic approach to team coaching with the aim of enabling high VALUE creating rather than high-performance teams.
In 2020 I completed my team coaching training in an international programme of the Global Team Coaching Institute. I was fortunate part of the first group in the world to graduate in Conversational Intelligence (R) in 2016 and completed my certification in 2018.
Conversational Intelligence is a new intelligence-based on neuroscience that enables us to change our conversations in order to build trust. Integrating the philosophy of Conversational Intelligence into my team coaching has proven to be immensely successful. I have done work with Agile teams which enabled them to change the trust levels in the team by understanding the impact of conversations on the brains of others.
I don’t use many assessments but a strengths focus and understanding has made a huge difference in teams in understanding diversity and how they can complement each other.
My individual coaching is focused on helping people make sense of the world around them and develop skills and a new way of dealing with the challenges they have to face. Many of these challenges inevitably includes relationships and trust.
From a positive psychology point of view, I enjoy helping my clients to become the best versions of themselves. One way of doing this is to help them focus on their strengths and what they are best at.
